Simple to make, you won't be able to stop eating {sweet heat} Mixed Nuts! They're perfect for game day!

If you’re looking for a crunchy, slightly sweet snack, look no further – {sweet heat} Mixed Nuts are a delightful snack that would make watching any game more delicious!

Happy January, ya’ll!  We spent the last 2 weeks of 2016 visiting family while I had my wisdom teeth taken out.  Oh the joys of oral surgery!  Things went really well though and I’m nearly back to eating all the normal things.  It was a real break from everyday life, I didn’t even open my computer while we were away and that was refreshing 😉

But today I must share this gem of a recipe.  Mixed nuts are a sensible snack and I love the flexibility of this recipe.  There’s enough salty and sweet with a little heat to make things interesting.  Use any nuts you like, I used a mixture of walnuts, almonds, pecans and cashews….amazing!  I gave these out in holiday treat packages and they were a hit.  And they should probably come with a disclaimer – don’t eat them alone because they’re crazy addictive and you.will.eat.them.all!!!

1 EGG WHITE, room temperature

1 Tablespoon WATER

1/4 cup GRANULATED SUGAR

3 Tablespoons BROWN SUGAR

1 teaspoons KOSHER SALT

1 teaspoon GROUND CINNAMON

1/2 teaspoon CAYENNE PEPPER

1/4 teaspoon GROUND CLOVES

Instructions

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, stir nuts together.  Set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg white and water.

In a different small bowl, combine sugars, salt and spices.

Pour egg white mixture over nuts.  Stir well.

Add spice mixture and stir again, making sure nuts are evenly coated.  Spread in an even layer on baking sheet.

Bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through baking time.

Cool, break apart and store in an airtight container.

Notes

*You can use your favorite nuts, I used equal parts walnuts, pecans, almonds and cashews.
