Nutella Swirl Donuts

August 6, 2012 By Crumbs and Chaos

Welcome to DONUT WEEK! As a group we have recently discovered our love for donut pans. Now you’ve probably seen that we’ve posted some donuts over the past few months but for some reason I have been making a new donut at least once a week! So we came to the conclusion that a donut week was necessary!! I will warn you though … once you start you may not be able to stop and because of that this will probably not be our last donut week!
One thing that is for sure in our house… WE LOVE NUTELLA! We love it so much that I actually have had to limit it to having it once per day. So when I saw the Nutella Swirl Donut on pinterest I immediately looked for the next opportunity I would have to make donuts. It is a basic cake donut with nutella swirled on top! It says 1/2 Tablespoon of Nutella per donut and that is how I did it, but really the more Nutella the merrier!Don’t have a donut pan?  You need to invest – check them out here!

Nutella Swirl Donuts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups CAKE FLOUR
  • 3/4 cup SUGAR
  • 2 teaspoons BAKING POWDER
  • 1 teaspoon KOSHER SALT
  • 3/4 cup BUTTERMILK (at room temperature)
  • 2 large EGGS, lightly beaten and at room temperature
  • 2 Tablespoon UNSALTED BUTTER, melted
  • 1 teaspoon VANILLA
  • 6 Tablespoons NUTELLA

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Sift the cake flour, sugar, baking powder and kosher salt into a large bowl. Add in the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla. Gently mix and fold everything together. Pipe or spoon the batter into a lightly greased doughnut pan. Put 1/2 Tablespoon of Nutella on each top of each doughnut batter. Using a knife, swirl the Nutella around. Bake the doughnuts for 9 minutes, or until donut springs back when touched. ENJOY!
